The phrase, "what kind of photographer are you" is something I hear all the time. I don't know why people have it in their heads that you are either a wedding photographer, specialize in newborn & babies, only do families or seniors, or something else. I will photograph most anything, as long as we can get creative. Yes, for many years i played it "safe" and did the usual standard poses, exact lighting, etc. There are a few reasons why I don't do that type of photography anymore. First and foremost is that I love what I do and I very much dislike repetition.
With so many people out there doing the "I only do this" type of work, it just all runs together and I don't find it challenging in any way. I need to be challenged. Let's do something creative, something different, something that you will be proud of to show your friends and family and not have to worry about hearing "oh I like that, my friend has one just like it."
IF my clients are going to spend money with me, then they deserve to get the very best that I have to offer. Over the past several years I have enjoyed the luxury of having clents that just say "I've seen your work, do whatever you think will look good." Now that's my kind of client!
Of course there are people out there that for a variety of reasons only do one or two types of photography. That's their choice and it's usually based upon experience, abilities or equipment. As for me, I want to photograph it all and I have been blessed with the ability, experience and equipment to do it. God have been VERY good to me and my family. Everything in this world is worthy of a photograph in the right setting or circumstances. That's why when you walk into our studio, you will see examples of a a lot of different types of images, finishes and print sizes. You will see a lot of different people, places, events, animals, sports, landscapes, musicians (I photograph a LOT of musicians) and all kinds of other, just stuff. ~ This is the world I live in!
WELCOME TO MY WORLD!
Yes, it's true, I am finally "going for it" and making the jump into the world of cyber space marketing. Jim King Photography now has a blog! Of course whether or now it is successful will be a two-fold project as it will depend partly on my ability to keep it interesting for you and more importantly, it will depend upon how YOU respond to it by reading, commenting and sharing the images that I will post here. While at this point I have no idea of how much I will be posting to this blog, I will make every attempt to post something new EACH WEEK!
As I posted images on our "Jim King Photography" page on Facebook during the construction of our new studio, I promised some big changes in the way we do business. This is one of them. Starting very soon, you will see that my image posts to our Facebook page will consist of only one or two images with a link to this blog. If you have ever stood in front of my camera, then you know that I like to be creative in my images and have fun as well. In many cases there are unique stories that go hand in hand with the capture of my images. A blog will allow me to share that with all of you. Something I never did on Facebook.
We are excited about this new "chapter" in our business and hope that you enjoy it as well. I am also making a HUGE change to our photo "proofing" process, but I will save that for another blog! LOL. As always, we appreciate all of you. Many of you have become clients from the "word of mouth" of former clients, or because you followed our Facebook page and liked what you saw, or one of many other reasons. It doesn't matter to us how you found us; the fact is that you did! Over the years many of you have become like famly to us and for that we are forever grateful. I hope you enjoy the Blog. Thanks so much!
